SBOW iFlex mobile fast charging solution for electric vehicles

Fixed grid connections require permits and time. These are two factors that are often unavailable in dynamic areas of application such as construction sites, large events, or during mains failures. This is exactly where the Diggia Group comes in with SBOW iFlex: the mobile fast charging solution enables electric vehicles to be charged exactly where they are needed, independently of the power grid.

Who is Diggia Group?

Diggia Group is an international group of companies founded in 2002 and headquartered in Madrid. The company is driving the energy transition and developing sustainable, technology-based solutions. Its goal is a cleaner, smarter, and more resilient energy future.

The idea of creating a mobile charging solution for electric vehicles arose from the fact that e-mobility is growing much faster than the charging infrastructure can keep up with. We wanted a solution that could be installed deployed in minutes, not months.

From idea to reality

The development of SBOW iFlex was not a sprint, but a marathon full of challenges and innovations. “We worked on it for almost five years. The process began with an initial prototype, which was still stationary,” recalls Marío Fernández, Director of Innovation at the Diggia Group.

The biggest hurdle? Integrating complex systems from stationary charging infrastructure into a mobile fast-charging solution. “It was an enormous challenge to combine hardware and software in such a way that it not only works, but is also flexible and reliable,” explains Fernández. David Álvarez González, Product Manager at Phoenix Contact Spain, adds: “The most important thing was to start from scratch. The project was something completely new that did not exist on the market at the time.”

Today, SBOW iFlex is a reality: a mobile fast charging station that is not only changing the market but also shows how a bold idea has become a solution suitable for everyday use.

SBOW iFlex: Technologie und Leistung

“The system offers a maximum charging power of 240 kW, which can be flexibly distributed between two charging cables. This allows two electric vehicles to be charged simultaneously – an optimal solution for versatile and location-independent use,” explains Marío Fernández. Thanks to its integrated battery, SBOW iFlex can be operated in both grid-connected and autonomous modes. The integrated battery storage system with 180 kWh of usable capacity is sufficient to charge up to six electric vehicles.

Further technical highlights:

Thanks to the intelligent integration of all components, the mobile fast charging station is ready for operation in just a few minutes and can be easily transported to the desired location by trailer or truck. Intelligent control and monitoring systems as well as high-quality components such as DC charging cables, CCS vehicle charging inlets, powerful electronics, and connection technology from Phoenix Contact  ensure safe and efficient use.

“At Phoenix Contact, we supply all the relevant components for the SBOW iFlex mobile charging solution – from CCS charging connectors and CCS charging inlets to DC power modules, battery-pole connectors, and charging controllers. These components are crucial for the reliability and flexibility of the solution.”

– David Álvarez González, Product Manager e-mobility at Phoenix Contact S.A.U.

SBOW iFlex offers operators and companies the flexibility to provide charging infrastructure without lengthy approval procedures and to use it where no fixed infrastructure is available. This significantly accelerates the deployment of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Collaboration between Diggia Group and Phoenix Contact

The collaboration between the Diggia Group and Phoenix Contact was no coincidence, but rather the result of a long-standing partnership and mutual expertise. “We have known Phoenix Contact for years from our projects in the field of fixed charging infrastructure. They are a technological reference for e-mobility and sustainable charging infrastructure,” explains Santiago Antelo.

When the idea for SBOW iFlex was born, it quickly became clear that Phoenix Contact was the right partner. This close cooperation went far beyond the mere supply of components. Phoenix Contact was not only a supplier, but a true development partner. “The good thing about the collaboration was that Phoenix Contact was able to offer us individualized and personalized technical service. They were committed and actively involved in the success,” says Santiago Antelo

Conclusion: Mobility meets innovation

With SBOW iFlex, ultra-fast charging independent of the power grid becomes a reality. A solution that not only accelerates the expansion of the charging infrastructure, but also opens up new applications – wherever flexibility is crucial.

Mobile charging and storage systems are the only way to make e-mobility available anytime, anywhere. They play a key role for the future.
