However, the J1772 (AC) and CCS type 1 (DC) charging standards will not disappear from the market <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW86314090 BCX0\">immediately<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW86314090 BCX0\">. They will remain in place for at least the next 6 to 8 years and then gradually become less important as the number of NACS vehicles increases,\u201d says Joe S. Boyer. \u201cThere are <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun AdvancedProofingIssueV2Themed SCXW86314090 BCX0\">a large number of<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW86314090 BCX0\"> electric vehicles that still have CCS type 1 vehicle charging inlets, so we <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun AdvancedProofingIssueV2Themed SCXW86314090 BCX0\">have to<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW86314090 BCX0\"> continue to support them with charging infrastructure. The nature of the market for utility vehicles also <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW86314090 BCX0\">indicates<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW86314090 BCX0\"> that the CCS type 1 standard will remain in place for the time being. From the point of view of the hardware, the installation dimensions can be the same as for type 1, but the cabling would have to be drastically changed,\u201d explains Joe S. Boyer.\u202f<\/span><\/span><span class=\"TextRun SCXW248460525 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW248460525 BCX0\">\u201cThe software must also take all these changes into consideration, as the same pins are used for AC charging and DC charging in the NACS charging inlet. <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW248460525 BCX0\">All in all<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW248460525 BCX0\">, retrofitting the charging interface in the vehicle is too expensive and is therefore not recommended.
